It’s done. At only 20 years old and after six months of high level at Olympique Lyonnais, Bradley Barcola joined Paris Saint-Germain. The news was made official last night by the two teams. Sold in exchange for 50 M€ (bonus included), the former Rhone striker was even entitled to a nice farewell video from his ex-club.

But this transfer is making a lot of noise. In Lyon, the supporters quickly took a dislike to the player, frustrated and annoyed to see this young talent leave so quickly. Finally, the amount of the transfer is certainly excellent financial news for a team supervised by the DNCG, but seeing Paris drop 50 M€ for a young person who has only done six months at a high level is a challenge. While waiting to find out if PSG has made an “Ekitike bis”, Bradley Barcola spoke for the first time on the official PSG website to explain his choice to join the capital.

Barcola seduced by Luis Enrique

“It’s a club with a lot of ambition, and that inevitably makes you want to. It is a club which plays major competitions, which often wins the championship. And as I like to win, that motivated me. I always knew it was a great team. I have always been impressed playing against them and even watching their matches. So when I had this opportunity to join them, I took my chance. And then it’s true that by playing with such great players, I know that I will evolve a lot, that I will be able to receive their advice, and I think that is very good for me.

Unable to say no when the PSG opportunity arrived, Barcola also indicated that Luis Enrique also played a big role in his arrival. “Yes, clearly. I had the chance to chat with the coach. It’s true that he also knew how to say what was needed to convince me. He made me want to join the club even more. He likes the attacking game so obviously I like it and I know it will be a chance to play like that. So I’m really happy to be trained by a coach like that.” On to the field now.
