Marseille will have to cross swords with the Batavian giant during the group stage of the Europa League.

Deprived of the Champions League, OM will have to settle for the Europe League this season. It’s a less prestigious competition, but the Marseille team will still be entitled to beautiful continental posters. The most enticing will pit her against Ajax.

A good poster against Ajax

The Olympians were able to avoid Liverpool, but they inherited another multiple European champion. Although 3e from the last Eredivisie season, Ajax remain a great team and the trip to the Johan Cruyff Arena promises to be exciting. The last opposition between the two teams turned to the advantage of the Marseillais. It was during the 2008/2009 exercise of the C3 (2-2, 2-1).

Besides Ajax, Marseille will challenge Brighton. De Zerbi’s formation is one of the most attractive formations in the Premier League. The task will certainly not be easy against the Seagulls. But, at least, there is the assurance of attending two very open oppositions given the game played by this club.

OM will return to Greece

Finally, the last opponent of Marseille will be AEK Athens. The trip to Greek soil will not be easy and they are well placed to know it since they were knocked out by Pana in C1.

All in all, it’s a fairly complicated draw for the Olympians. To invite themselves to the next round, Marcelino’s men will have to show their best game and respect all of their rivals.
