Messi’s contempt annoys everyone

Once again, Lionel Messi didn’t speak to the media after Inter Miami’s 0-0 draw against Nashville.

MLS rules state that every player must make himself available for the press office after every game, and the interest in everything Messi does is evident. La Pulga nonetheless dodged the press after their MLS debut against the New York Red Bulls. Ditto for his second outing against Nashville.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has given just one press conference – in which he spoke through a translator – since wrapping up his astonishing move to the United States in as a free player.

A statement released by the Miami Herald, however, revealed that Messi would not be punished for his media silence.

MLS said: “There has been a misunderstanding regarding Lionel Messi’s access to the media. He did not violate any guidelines regarding his access to the media.”

The local press does not appreciate this attitude, however, as one can imagine.
