The president of Montpellier, Laurent Nicollin, took it hard on Hervé Renard, whom he accuses of having played his defender Maëlle Lakrar despite an injury.

While aiming to reach the last four of the 2023 World Cup, the French women’s team finally stopped at the quarter-final stage, eliminated on penalties by Australia (0-0, 6 tab to 7). If the disappointment was great for the Blues, Hervé Renard has some reasons for satisfaction, like Montpellier’s Maëlle Lakrar, who won in central defense alongside captain Wendie Renard.

Yes but now, Maëlle Lakrar played this last match against the injured Australians. And this injury worsened… What strongly irritated the president of the MHSC, Laurent Nicollin, who slipped a tackle supported by Hervé Renard, without however directly quoting him.

“I don’t find it very professional”

“I just have the injury of my French international. Maëlle (Lakrar) played injured in the France team. I’m not very happy. She totally tore herself up.”thus lambasted the boss of the Hérault club during the broadcast 100% Paillade on France Bleu.

“She has two months and will not start the season. I don’t find it very professional, I have it a bit in my throat”, added Laurent Nicollin. As a reminder, Maëlle Lakrar injured her thigh on the sidelines of the round of 16 against Morocco (4-0) – a match she did not play – before being established against Australia.
