Al-Ittihad are reportedly ready to test Liverpool’s resolve with a €150million bid for Mohamed Salah before the summer window closes.
The Egyptian international striker is bound by a contract at Anfield until 2025 and has not publicly expressed a wish to break this agreement. However, there are reports that Saudi Arabia’s interest has made him dizzy.
According to CBS Sports, Al-Ittihad, who already have Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema in their ranks, are preparing a big offer for Salah. The Saudi leaders will also offer the 31-year-old a contract that would align him with the salaries of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, which is more than that of the Frenchman.
Such a deal would smash the Saudi transfer record, with the offer worth £86m in guaranteed payments and £43m in performance bonuses. Liverpool do not intend to approve a sale but their hand could be forced if Salah decides to enter into negotiations.
Al-Ittihad are looking to sign other big-name players ahead of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in Saudi Arabia in December. There are also reports that Al-Ittihad are considering signing former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos, who is still free at the age of 37.
