Chelsea have agreed to loan Romelu Lukaku to AS Roma after the forward accepted a substantial pay cut, and the Italian side have an opportunity to make the transfer permanent.
Romelu Lukaku has been training away from the Chelsea squad since returning from loan at Inter after looking to leave the club in the summer.
Roma have indeed reached an agreement to bring Lukaku back to Italy, agreeing to pay Chelsea a £5million loan.
The Telegraph report that the breakthrough came when Lukaku agreed to a £6m salary so Chelsea wouldn’t have to contribute to his wages while he was in Italy.
Lukaku, who would make around £17m-a-year at Chelsea, also had to accept a further reduction if he returned to Stamford Bridge next summer.
Lukaku’s new terms also include a £37million release clause, which Chelsea say sets the price for the 30-year-old to pay next summer if he attracts interest with his performances at the club. AS Roma.
