A stolen Ferrari and Range Rover, which were about to be shipped to Dubai, have been returned to their owners, Premier League footballers.

Essex Police’s Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit (SVIU) has revealed that vehicles and parts worth over £16million have been recovered in 2023. Of these vehicles, there are some expensive purchases made by English Premier League players.

The cars in question were not stolen in Essex but were discovered in shipping containers which were due to be transported to the Middle East from the London Gateway Port in Thurrock. The players involved have not been named, but they are believed to be confirmed international players.

Police Officer Phile Pentelow of the Victims and Witnesses Support Unit (SVIU) spoke about the reunion of one of the sports stars with his most prized possession: “He was sincerely grateful and was surprised by the efforts we made. His car was obviously very expensive and he was very impressed with the service provided by the police. Even though he plays for one of the biggest rivals in my team, he was a nice, down to earth man. It was good to help him”.
