Chelsea have formalized the arrival of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic (23), from the New England Revolution club, in MLS, for a transfer of around €16 million. ‘The 23-year-old, who has been capped twice by Serbia, has signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with an option for a further year’, says the press release from the Blues. Petrovic becomes Chelsea’s tenth summer signing.
This is the most expensive transfer in MLS history for a goalkeeper. With this new recruit, Chelsea offers a competitive understudy Robert Sanchez, also arrived this summer from Brighton for 23 M€, after the departure of Kepa Arrizabalaga at Real Madrid. “I’m very happy to be at Chelsea and I’m really looking forward to starting at this club.
