Manchester City captain Kevin De Bruyne has given an important indication on the transfer of Kylian Mbappé.
De Bruyne was asked his opinion on where Mbappé will play this season and next as he discussed the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
The Belgium international has confirmed team-mate Erling Haaland as his choice for the award, following a sensational debut season at Manchester for the Norwegian.
As part of a wider reflection on future Ballon d’Or struggles, De Bruyne believes Haaland vs Mbappé will be the big duel, should the latter join Real Madrid.
“I don’t know where Mbappé will play this season. I think it’s more difficult for him to win a Ballon d’Or at PSG. There are rumors that he could go to Real Madrid, maybe that would put him in first position, ahead of Erling Haaland”according to an interview with Sky Sports.
Mbappé has been heavily linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid in 2024 after turning down a contract extension to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
His current contract with PSG expires at the end of the 2023/24 season, and despite renewed optimism over a possible renewal in Paris, he seems determined to join Los Blancos.
