Chelsea: Emmanuel Petit castigates Caicedo and Lavia

This summer again, Chelsea decided to break the piggy bank to afford Premier League talents. In this sense, midfielders Roméo Lavia and Moisés Caicedo landed with the Blues for a total of almost 200 million euros. The second city has also become the most expensive recruit in the history of the English championship (133 million). A recruitment denounced by former Chelsea player Emmanuel Petit who believes that the two players were motivated by money only.

“Caicedo signed for Chelsea while he was linked with Liverpool, as did Romeo Lavia. I’m not going to talk nonsense, but we all know why they went to Chelsea. Sportingly, the best decision to make today would be to go to Liverpool. If I’m Caicedo or Lavia I’ll go to Liverpool rather than Chelsea because I don’t see a clear plan for what happens at Chelsea. Thirty-five players? You are welcome. How many players do they need? It’s going to be a nightmare, like last season. When you look at Liverpool there is one area in particular that needs improvement and that is the midfield, even though they have signed new players in Szoboszlai and Mac Allister. (…) For me, the answer is very simple. If you ask anyone why Caicedo and Lavia decided to go to Chelsea, the answer is simply money. Money speaks to clubs and players.”
