After a home shirt made and chosen by its own supporters, Borussia Dortmund decided to repeat the initiative for the away shirt for the 2023-2024 season, which BvB started with a slap inflicted on Schott Mainz (6-1) in the first round of the German Cup before taking the three points of victory against Cologne in the Bundesliga (1-0).
The all-over gray print design on the front of the black garment depicts an aerial view of the historic Borsigplatz square, where the club was founded in 1909. It’s a design that not only pays homage to the birthplace of the Yellow-and- Black, but also embodies the heart of Dortmund’s footballing heritage. The finishing touch to the shirt is a classic black crew neck with yellow cuffs and trim to honor the club’s traditional colors.
“We received so many fantastic designs from our fans. One of them particularly stood out and thrilled the jury. We thought this black design was a natural fit to inspire our away kit and we’re very happy with the end result.”explained Carsten Cramer, general manager of Borussia Dortmund.
To celebrate the launch of the new away shirt, PUMA and BVB have teamed up with the local social project Nordstadtliga Dortmund in Nordstadt, one of the areas historically closest to BVB in Dortmund, to organize a special street football tournament in the middle from the city, near Borsigplatz. The event ended in apotheosis with the reveal of the away shirt in the last match of the tournament.
