Instead of celebrating and talking about the historic and unprecedented victory of the Spanish women’s team in the final of the 2023 World Cup, it is Luis Rubiales that the media are talking about. And for good reason, since the president of the Spanish Football Federation behaved in a way that was surprising to say the least at the time of the medal ceremony, not hesitating to kiss Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth. If the latter did not wish to elaborate on the subject, the various authorities ended up seizing it. Under pressure, Luis Rubiales is now considering resigning.
And it is a notorious development in the thinking of the leader who first minimized things in a first public statement. And now, FIFA has opened an investigation against a Rubiales who now wonders if he would not do better to slip away. A general meeting will be held on Friday. Originally organized for Luis Rubiales to obtain a plebiscite in the form of support, this meeting could finally be the occasion for the president of the Federation to say goodbye and leave his post.
