One week before the end of the transfer window, things are accelerating at Olympique de Marseille. In addition to the potential sale of Mattéo Guendouzi to Lazio, the Phocaeans are also set to welcome Argentinian striker Joaquin Correa. And the latter might not be the only reinforcement to land on the Canebière.

Geoffrey Kondogbia’s injury has indeed forced the Marseille leaders to go in search of a midfielder. Last week, the German media revealed that OM had then set their sights on the 26-year-old player from Bayer Leverkusen, Nadiem Amiri. Free of any contract in a year, the German international (5 selections) is not a starter in his team, but he distinguished himself this summer during a preparation match against OM.

Amiri snubbed Leeds

On paper, Marseille therefore had every chance of winning his signature. Except that the English from Leeds landed in the file. Despite their relegation to the Championship, the Peacocks remain a better financially armed club than OM. As proof, they agreed to immediately pay the €7 million demanded by their German counterparts. But not everything went as planned.

Sky Germany claims this morning that Nadiem Amiri has stopped negotiations with Leeds. The player has made it known that he does not want to go to England and that he favors OM. A very versatile central midfielder, Amiri has just sent a strong signal to the Phocaeans. It remains to be seen how OM will go about satisfying Bayer financially.
