Appointed last March as coach of the French women’s football team, Hervé Renard left his seat as coach of Saudi Arabia vacant. His successor is practically here.

It has now been almost five months since Hervé Renard changed his costume. Or at least of function since last March, the man in the white shirt broke by mutual agreement the contract which bound him to the Saudi Football Federation to engage with the FFF. Having become coach of the Bleues in place of a Corinne Deacon victim of the putsch initiated by Wendie Renard, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani, the fifty-four-year-old man therefore left an empty seat on the side of the selection of Saudi Arabia. An empty place that is about to find takers.

Rumors had been buzzing for several days already concerning the identity of the future coach of the Green Falcons. Resigning surprise from his role as coach of Italy, Roberto Mancini was thus designated by the transalpine press to succeed Hervé Renard. This Thursday, the latter affirmed that an agreement now existed between the former glory of Sampdoria and the Saudi Federation. It is The Gazzetta dello Sport who thus delivered the final details of the operation in progress. According to the media, negotiations between the two parties would have started since June and after an oral agreement already validated, all that remains is to sign.

Juicy contract

Like the one signed by many players who arrived in the Saudi Pro League this summer, Roberto Mancini’s contract promises to be very lucrative for him. An annual amount estimated between twenty-five and thirty million euros was mentioned. This is far more than what Hervé Renard received since the French technician had signed a contract guaranteeing him four million euros per year. As for Roberto Mancini, he should land with the staff he worked with when he was coach of the Squadra Azzurra. His lease should run until the next World Cup (hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada in the summer of 2026).
