Real Madrid: Benzema’s successor is a resounding flop

Real Madrid haven’t signed a new striker this summer apart from veteran Joselu Mato, nor are they sure about Kylian Mbappé’s future.

Is the succession of Karim Benzema ensured in the long term at Real Madrid? Endrick Felipe has agreed to join Real when he turns 18, in the summer of 2024, for a fee of up to 60 million euros, including variables. However, he has had a tough year this season.

After losing his place in the Palmeiras team, he was the subject of intense media attention due to his struggles in front of goal, but he eventually ended his drought.

Things then improved for Endrick, who found the net after 13 appearances. In total, he has scored 7 goals and provided an assist in 34 appearances this season – spectacular figures for a 17-year-old, but it is true that some rightly or wrongly expected more from him.

After this first period of scarcity, he is again on a series of ten games without a goal. Last time he appeared, Endrick only touched the ball twice in 27 minutes against Cruzeiro, and he’s gone five of the last seven games on the bench without appearing.

Real Madrid are unlikely to mind their struggles with Palmeiras being one of the most important and competitive sides in South America. If he keeps things in perspective, Endrick should continue to develop into one of the best talents in the world.
