Jorge Mendes has a lot of work at the end of the summer transfer window. In addition to the burning issues concerning João Felix, Ansu Fati and Bradley Barcola, the influential Portuguese agent is also looking for a way out for João Cancelo. Returning to Manchester City after a mixed loan spell at Bayern Munich, the versatile full-back is Xavi’s priority to bolster his squad for the season which has only just begun. If the 29-year-old agreed to join Catalonia, there were still several details to be settled and according to the Spanish press it could well be that the operation is already complete. Indeed, the former Juventus player is getting closer and closer to FC Barcelona and it could indeed be the last straight line towards a transfer from the Portuguese to Spain.

As relayed lately by the Spanish press, the preferred operation will be a loan despite the reluctance of Manchester City. According to the latest indiscretions of Carrusel Deportivo of the SER padlock, the Blaugranas and the Skyblues are also in the process of agreeing on the agreement knowing that a purchase option of 25 million euros should be integrated to finalize this file. This option could also be mandatory if the Catalans reach the knockout stages of the Champions League. Finally, the vast majority of the Portuguese winger’s fees would be paid by the Culés while the Cityzens would pay a smaller part. According to the Spanish media, Joao Cancelo should even go to Barcelona tomorrow to complete this very long soap opera.
