Joao Felix continues to be linked with FC Barcelona and Manchester United, and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has reacted to the transfer talks.

The Portugal international striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Premier League club Chelsea, where he scored four goals in 20 appearances. The Blues haven’t sought to agree a permanent deal with Felix, who was named on the bench for Atletico for the 2023-24 La Liga season opener against Granada.

Felix is suffering from a mild concussion which prevents him from playing but rumors of interest from Barca and United are not abating as a new signing deadline approaches. Atletico need to make an important decision regarding the 23-year-old as he remains a salable asset but his boss Diego Simeone isn’t giving much information on his future plans.

Asked about the speculation raging at the Wanda Metropolitano, Simeone once again spoke about it: “Joao Felix? I always say the best question is to ask him. I see that he is not interviewed and that he does not have the opportunity. They always ask us questions. He is part of the team and we have been training with him since the start of pre-season. He did not take part in the friendlies due to an injury which prevented him from participating in the first two, and he did not participate in the other two because we understood that he needed a training week. Afterwards, he had a good week and was called up for the first game. Today, he suffers from an embarrassment and will therefore not be present in Sevilla. This is what I can say about what matters to me, that is to say the group and our work”.
