Lucas Paqueta is in the sights of the Premier League for bets placed on a yellow card which he received last March. And the fault is quite gross.
Lucas Paqueta is in turmoil. The Brazilian is in the Premier League’s sights over a suspicious betting case. The suspicions relate to a yellow card received by the former Lyonnais on March 12 against Aston Villa.
On the operator Betway, which is also the main sponsor West Ham, large sums have been deposited by relatives of Paqueta. It would be amount “six-digit”, according to Foot Mercato. The bets were on Paqueta taking a yellow card in this match, but not only. According to Globo, it was a combination with a yellow card received by another Brazilian, Luiz Henrique (Betis), the same day. The latter was warned for protest in the 89th minute.

It was easy to find the action in question. We see Paqueta commit a rather crude tackle, in the center circle, while his team is not in danger. It’s hard to know if this gesture can be considered as proof of complicity, but the tackle is suspicious enough to fuel suspicion.
In the meantime, and while he risks a heavy sanction (fine and/or suspension), Paqueta is already suffering from the consequences of this affair. His name has been removed from the list for the next Brazilian squad, and talks for his transfer to Manchester City, what would have been the transfer of his life, have now stalled.
