More than seven months after his arrival at Olympique de Marseille, Ruslan Malinovskyi has already packed up. The Ukrainian signed on Saturday with Genoa, in the form of a loan with an option to buy.

If Pablo Longoria often has a hollow nose when it comes to recruitment, he can sometimes miss it completely. This is what happened last winter for the president of Olympique de Marseille. Thinking he had sniffed out the right deal to strengthen his squad during the season, he turned to Ruslan Malinovskyi. More successful with Atalanta Bergamo, the Ukrainian international accepted the Marseille challenge. Loaned with an automatic purchase option of ten million euros, the player did not however confirm the hopes placed in him. A little over seven months after his arrival, he has already left.

And it is again in the form of a loan (with option to buy) that Malinovskyi left to try the adventure elsewhere. On the side of Genoa exactly where his arrival was formalized this Saturday. In twenty-three games with OM, the thirty-year-old has only scored two goals with the Marseille club. Since the departure of Igor Tudor, he did not even seem to enter into Marcelino’s plans, who did not use him for a single second.

At the revival

Ruslan Malinovskyi will therefore try to relaunch his career on the side of the promoted Italian. Genoa finished second in Serie B last season, earning their ticket to the top tier.
