The two teams were looking for a first victory this Saturday evening, during this OL-Montpellier, match of the 2nd day of Ligue 1.
The Lyonnais lost in Strasbourg to start the Championship (1-2). If they had possession and the number of shots in their favor, Laurent Blanc’s men were not effective. For their part, the Héraultais conceded a draw against the promoted Le Havre (2-2) at home, conceding the equalizing goal at the very end of the match.
The two formations therefore wanted to correct the situation on the occasion of this second trick. The MHSC sealed the fate of the match after the hour mark. Al Amari entered the box, stared at Riou and beat him from inside the left. 3-0, then 3-1 because OL offered themselves a late awakening. Caqueret found Kumbedi who gave Lacazette in the box. Off center on the right, the captain fired a cross shot. It’s low to the ground and it deceives Lecomte.
But OL’s revolt was cut short. Ten minutes from the end, frustrated at not seeing Cherki benefit from a free kick, Lacazette was guilty of a violent intervention on Savanier. The Lyon captain collected a direct red card. An expulsion which was not going to remain without consequence. The MHSC thus offered a last Adams achievement and broke Lyon. 1-4, final score. OL fell heavily and continued their catastrophic start to Ligue 1.
