Tottenham is having a historic summer. The London club has let go of the top scorer in its history, Harry Kane, and it will also see the departure of its emblematic French goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris. At 36, the former captain of the France team still has a year on his contract, but he has asked his management to let him go.
Request accepted by Spurs. Released for services rendered, Lloris was able to negotiate calmly with his courtiers. And in recent hours, everything seems to indicate that the ex-international tricolor (145 selections) will discover a new championship: Serie A.
Sarri not hot to recruit Lloris
Announced very close to Lazio, Lloris was targeted by the Romans following the sale of the Portuguese Luis Maximiano to Almeria (loan with compulsory purchase option of 10 M€). In Rome, the French would however come to play the understudy of the Italian Ivan Provedel (29 years old). And this is where it gets complicated. There Gazzetta dello Sport ensures that Lloris is only President Lotito’s choice.
Clearly, Maurizio Sarri and his staff were not for an arrival of the ex-Spur, even as number 2. The reason? They fear that this will put too much pressure on their number 1. In addition, the Celeste coach is afraid of finding himself in a very uncomfortable situation with a lining much better paid than the holder (who receives around 1.5 M € per year). Lotito has promised Provedel that he will soon be raised, but Lloris is already causing discord in a locker room when he has still not set foot there.
