On March 30, the French Football Federation announced that Hervé Renard had become the new coach of the French women’s team. A month earlier, a putsch led by Wendie Renard, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani had caused Corinne Deacon to be sidelined. Definitively put out of play by the FFF, the coach was therefore replaced by a Hervé Renard ardently desired by Jean-Michel Aulas. Notably. But to become the new boss of Les Bleues, the native of Aix-les-Bains had to negotiate with Saudi Arabia, of which he was still coach when the FFF called him for help. And if an agreement was finally reached between the two parties, it remained for the Saudi Federation to find a successor to Hervé Renard.
More than four months after the departure of the French tactician, things seem to be accelerating suddenly. It all started this Sunday on the side of Italy. While he had just seen his field of action expanded by his Federation, Roberto Mancini announced that he was resigning from his position as coach of Italy. But no reason was given then. The next day, the Italian press revealed the fruit of its first investments by explaining that Mancini was about to take over from Hervé Renard on the side of Saudi Arabia. Like many footballers for a few months, it seems that the financial aspect plays a significant role in the choice of the Transalpin.
Ten times more for Mancini?
According to The Gazzetta dello sport, it is a huge contract that would await the probable future coach of Saudi Arabia since he should receive a salary estimated at 40 million euros per year. If the information were to be confirmed, this annual salary would simply be ten times higher than that of Hervé Renard when he officiated on the Saudi bench (4 million euros per year). On the tricolor bench, the coach of the Blue receives today some 400,000 euros per year.
