Although running out of options in central defence, Real Madrid have no intention of bringing in former captain Sergio Ramos.
Real Madrid found themselves deprived this weekend of one of their central defenders, in the person of Eder Militao. Victim of a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the knee, the Brazilian will be sidelined for several months.
No comeback to Madrid for Sergio Ramos
As is already the case for Thibaut Courtois, Real must look for a replacement for Militao. In the Spanish press, several names quickly emerged, including that of club legend Sergio Ramos. Being free of any commitment since leaving PSG, the latter emerges almost naturally as a candidate to fill the hole behind.
But, and if we are to believe what the daily Marca reports, the club from the Spanish capital completely rules out the return of its former captain. This is not an option considered, neither by the technical staff nor by the management. When you remember, the circumstances in which the Andalusian left Madrid is anything but a surprise.
Sergio Ramos will therefore certainly not return to La Liga this summer. Sevilla FC also closed its doors to him, for lack of means. On the other hand, the 2010 world champion still has several offers from exotic leagues, such as the Saudi Pro League or MLS. However, he is in no hurry to accept these challenges.
