After Lukeba, Olympique Lyonnais is preparing to lose another important part of its rearguard.

The 2023/2024 season is off to a very bad start for OL. In addition to the poor results recorded in preparation and for the start of the championship, the Rhone club saw several of its major players desert it. After Lukeba left for Leipzig, another key defender is set to change.

Return to sender for Tagliafico?

The player in question is Nicolas Tagliafico. While he started on Sunday during the opposition against Strasbourg, the world champion would be in the process of leaving. He should return to his former club Ajax, according to journalist Ekrem Konur, a transfer window specialist.

Negotiations between the two clubs are at an advanced stage and the deal is said to be imminent. Tagliafico would therefore find the Dutch giant, just one year after leaving him. In Lyon, he will have played 39 matches.

The transfer of Tagliafico is regrettable but it is not surprising insofar as Lyon is obliged to sell in order to be able to clean up its finances and get rid of the pressure put by the DNCG. The club still has its wage bill controlled, with very little leeway in terms of recruitment. A situation that is beginning to seriously annoy Laurent Blanc.
