The long-term injury that Real Madrid feared for Eder Militao was confirmed by the merengue club this Sunday. The defender suffers from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Last Thursday, Thibaut Courtois was injured in training. The verdict of the doctors was clear: tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. Two days later, Eder Militao collapsed in the middle of a match during Real Madrid’s success against Athletic Bilbao (0-2). The diagnosis was yet to be revealed. This Sunday, the merengue club announced the very bad news: Militao suffers from the exact same injury as Courtois. He should be out for at least nine months.

Real Madrid formalized the information through a terse statement. ” After the tests carried out on our player Éder Militão, he was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The player will be operated on in the coming days. As in the case of Thibaut Courtois, Madrid will therefore be forced to look for an alternative solution for their frame. Even if David Alaba can be replaced in central defense and alternatives exist internally, Carlo Ancelotti may want to strengthen this sector by recruiting.

Big problem

The start of the season is no less catastrophic on the medical level for Real Madrid, which loses a third player to serious injury, the young Arda Güler (18) also having to go to the pool table for a meniscus problem.
