AS Monaco counted on its captain Wissam Ben Yedder in Clermont-Ferrand on Sunday as part of the first day of Ligue 1. The French international, indicted for rape, attempted rape and sexual assault in the week , took the opportunity to score twice, triggering a 4-2 victory for the Principality club.
Adi Hütter’s team conceded the opener from Clermont signed Mateusz Wieteska (7th), but the technical talent of the Monegasques then made the difference. Vanderson equalized in force on a serve from Takumi Minamino (26th), before a fox goal from Ben Yedder, who stood out with a celebration that puzzled the viewers. The 33-year-old appeared to mimic handcuffed hands.

Ben Yedder scored his second goal in the second half (70th), on a cross from Vanderson (untenable as the right piston of a 3-4-2-1), while Clermont had equalized by Muhammed Cham (53rd). Maghnes Akliouche, a few minutes after coming on, scored ASM’s 4th goal in added time.
AS Monaco, provisionally leading before the end of the championship weekend, will receive Strasbourg next Sunday, while Clermont Foot, which is therefore last, will try to revive in Reims.
