Ousmane Dembele has thanked FC Barcelona after his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

The France international had been working on a deal to join the Parisians since last month, after admitting his desire to leave Catalonia.

Despite FC Barcelona’s attempts to convince him to stay with the La Liga champions, he agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain and will now start a new chapter in his native country.

The 26-year-old winger has signed a five-year deal at the Parc des Princes as PSG activated his €50m release clause to Barcelona as part of the negotiations.

The overall deal is rumored to involve a 50/50 wage split between Barcelona and Dembele/his agent, although the former is believed to be entitled to more than €25m.

FC Barcelona will now look to reinvest the money generated by the sale of Dembele back into their squad, but the former Borussia Dortmund star has sent a positive message following his departure.

I didn’t want to leave without thanking all the people in Barcelona who have supported me during these years: colleagues, coaches, club workers and managers.” he posted on social media.

“I grew as a footballer and as a person and it was a pride and an honor to wear the Blaugrana jersey. Without a doubt, I take with me memories that will always remain in my heart”.
