The outcome of the soap opera Victor Osimhen is fast approaching. For the past few weeks, we have heard much less talk of the striker leaving for a big European player. And for good reason, the Nigerian is indeed in the process of extending his contract with the Italian champion. The information has even been revealed by President Aurelio de Laurentiis in person in recent hours, quite proud to have convinced one of the great architects of the conquest of the title.

“Osimhen will stay! He has a contract for two more years, where should he go? There are contracts and you always have to respect them: that goes for both sides of course because it’s a bilateral relationship and as long as it’s like that and it never leans to one side or the another, there is love and harmony” dropped the Neapolitan president in the Corriere dello Sport. Excellent news for the club, but also for Rudi Garcia, the club’s new coach, who can count on his striker this season.

A departure clause between 140 and 150 M€

He himself commented on the good news. “I want Osimhen to be happy. The club and the player have done a good job. He is a driving force, we ask him for goals. When it’s official, he will be able to devote himself only to the field and I like that better. The man with 26 goals in Serie A last season achieved his goals but all this obviously has a cost, as explained The Gazzetta dello Sport in its current edition. He will become the highest paid player in club history.

Once the news is made official, Osimhen will double his salary, going from 6 to 12 M€ per year. He will also extend his current lease (2025) by two additional seasons (2027). Of course, it is not certain that he will complete this new commitment. He also has a release clause located “between 140 and 150 M€”, according to the newspaper with pink pages. A very high sum but no longer inaccessible for the richest clubs. A way to launch the 2024 soap opera…
