French champion last season despite a very mixed 2022/2023 financial year, Paris Saint-Germain received FC Lorient at the Parc des Princes for the resumption of Ligue 1. For this very important first day to launch this new season, Luis Enrique was counting on several recruits, who arrived like him during this summer transfer window. In addition to Lucas Hernandez, positioned on the left flank of the Parisian defense, and Milan Skriniar in central defense, the Spanish technician trusted Marco Asensio and Kang-In Lee to combine with Gonçalo Ramos in attack. After a very disappointing tour of Japan with a draw and two defeats in particular, the Red and Blue started the match with their feet firmly on the ground and put considerable pressure on the Lorient defence. The match was then played only in the Merlus part of the field. After a high reception and a good combination in front of the opposing area, Gonçalo Ramos fired the first shot of this evening but fell on a great Yvon Mvogo.

Finally the biggest opportunity was Lorient through Laurent Abergel who found the post of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Upon returning from the locker room, the meeting was slightly carried away thanks to the awakening of the players of Régis Le Bris. Despite a better fight on the meadow, the opportunities continued to be rare. While Lucas Hernandez was on the verge of offering a penalty to his opponents after a good breakthrough from Romain Faivre, Fabian Ruiz took advantage of good work from Marco Asensio to shoot hard and make Yvon Mvogo shine once again. Just before the final whistle, Danilo saved a good ball from Romain Faivre while Carlos Soler got on his right foot to place a sudden and powerful shot. If the ball turned well, the Lorient goalkeeper had to do it twice to catch the ball and avoid the opener. After extra time, Manuel Ugarte, who was playing a very good game in midfield, also placed a shot that narrowly passed the opposing cages. Paris Saint-Germain and FC Lorient therefore leave each other with a goalless draw, which is quite logical.
