It is the end of a soap opera that will have animated the English and German transfer windows: indeed, star striker Harry Kane leaves Tottenham, after a decade and 280 goals scored under the colors of Spurs, to join Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club disbursed a check for 100 million euros, matched with 10 others in variables. A real blow for the reigning German champions, who offer themselves a real scorer after the exit of Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona and the failure of Sadio Mané, who has since left for Saudi Arabia. He logically inherits number 9, free since the departure of the Pole.

In an interview with the club’s official media, the Three Lions international (84 caps, 54 goals) confided in his career choice to leave England to join the Bundesliga: “I felt it was the right step in my career. When you think of Bayern Munich, you think of one of the best teams in the world. I’m excited, it’s been a busy day for sure, but I can’t wait to get to know Munich, the team, the place. I can’t wait to get to know my teammates, coaches and my manager. All in all, I’m happy to be here.”

Kane wants to inaugurate his trophy room

While he didn’t have the chance to lift a collective trophy with the white jersey, the native of London hopes to take a step forward in his career by joining the Rekordmeister: “I think Bayern Munich is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I have said throughout my career that I want to keep improving and pushing myself to become the best. I think it was the right step to push myself and test myself at the highest level, that’s why I’m here and I’m looking forward to this challenge. When I think of Bayern Munich, I think of a club that has won a lot of trophies, which has a good culture of winning year after year.

Moreover, the one who has established himself as one of Europe’s top scorers wants to quickly adapt to his new German life, and shouldn’t wait long to make his first appearance for Bayern since he is already present in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig: “Of course we go straight into the Super Cup and I hope I can play a part in it. I will meet the coach (Thomas Tuchel) and the team in the morning and try to integrate as quickly as possible. A jump into the deep end that Harry Kane is waiting for, to finally inaugurate his trophy room, still empty despite his 10 years in England…
