During his first pre-match press conference, Luis Enrique assured that he stood behind his management’s decision concerning Kylian Mbappé.

Kylian Mbappé will not be present this Saturday for the match against Lorient. There was no real doubt about it, but the Parisian coach made it a point of honor to confirm it this Friday. During the media point preceding this game against the Hakes, Luis Enrique assured that he was following the choice of his hierarchy.

Luis Enrique supports his management in his conflict against Mbappé

Contrary to the rumors that have circulated, the Spaniard will not call on the Bondynois until he has satisfied the request sent to him by the management (he must extend or accept a departure this summer). “The philosophy of this club is very clear: that the club is above everything and I share it 100%”he thundered.

While claiming that he supports Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the former Barça coach still insisted that he hopes for a positive outcome to this conflict. Having Mbappé at his disposal is a luxury he would like to benefit from: “I don’t speak much French but I understood this question well. On the Mbappé theme, it is a theme that has already been encountered in the past and a solution had been found between the club and the player. That’s what I would like”. He is of course referring to the situation that was experienced in 2022 and which resulted in an extension for the French international.

For Verratti and Neymar, Enrique invites to see his actions

Luis Enrique was also asked about the other two team captains who were asked to change air, in this case Neymar and Verratti. Did he have a say in them? His answer : “About Marco (Verratti) and Neymar, I usually do not reveal the conversations with my players. On the other hand, I invite you to be attentive to my actions because it is my decisions that will express my opinion. »

He remains ambitious for PSG

If Paris lets both Mbappé and Neymar slip away this summer, its workforce will be considerably weakened. Luis Enrique does not deny it, but he is still happy with his team and is sure that he can achieve his goals. “Clearly, we remain one of the best teams in France and we want to position ourselves on all the titles (…) We are doing what is necessary for the transfer window. We are open to anything that can help the team. We are attentive to what is happening on all positions. The transfer window is difficult for everyone and it’s something we accept. »

Finally, the Iberian technician mentioned the case of Ousmane Dembélé, whose arrival is imminent but who is not yet sealed. “Legally, he is not yet a PSG player. Something is still missing. He is only a 99% PSG player”.
