Earlier on Thursday, Real Madrid confirmed that Thibaut Courtois injured his anterior cruciate ligament during Wednesday’s training.
The Belgium international left the session on a stretcher and the diagnosis confirmed the severity of the injury.
As reported Diario AS, the Red Devil will be out for a minimum of nine months, which means he will miss the entire 2023-24 season.
It’s a blow for the goalkeeper and for Real Madrid. He is undoubtedly one of the team’s key players and has been the undisputed number one since joining.
Real Madrid has therefore embarked on the transfer market to find a replacement. David De Gea appears to be the favorite at this stage with Los Blancos reportedly in talks with the former Manchester United stopper who is currently a free agent.
The loss of Courtois is a blow for Real Madrid, and their chances of success in all areas will no doubt be affected by this news.
