While all the Real Madrid news seems to revolve around Kylian Mbappé, Carlo Ancelotti has just received terrible news. The Italian tactician will thus have to do without the services of Thibaut Courtois for a good part of the coming season, since the Belgian is suffering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

“After the tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois, the diagnosis reveals a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days.”, indicates the club of the Spanish capital in an official press release published on its site. Several months of absence are therefore to be expected.

A new goalkeeper this summer?

It remains to be seen if the Ukrainian goalkeeper will start for a good part of the season, or if the Merengues will try to recruit a goalkeeper by the end of the transfer window. The team chaired by Florentino Pérez would thus have 3 weeks to recruit a guaranteed goalkeeper, while goalkeepers like David de Gea, Kepa Arrizabalaga or even Keylor Navas are free or on the market…
