Chelsea prepare a surprising €60m move

Chelsea’s buying fever is far from over with three weeks to go before the end of the summer transfer window. More than €200m have been injected into the market since June with the arrivals of Nkunku (€65m), Disasi (€45m), Jackson (€37m), Ugochukwu (€27m), Sanchez ( €23 million) and Gabriel (€15 million). The latter immediately went on loan to Strasbourg. The Brazilian could even be followed by the former Rennais since Racing and the English now have the same shareholder, BlueCo.

But for now, the Blues do not have many people in defensive midfielders. With the many departures from this position for six months (Jorginho, Zakaria, Kanté, Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, see Ampadu and Bakayoko), there is only Enzo Fernandez, the young Andrey Santos and therefore Ugochukwu. Despite its plethoric workforce and the means put in place to strengthen itself, the club of the capital has not yet filled all its gaps in certain positions. This is why a new €60 million move is in preparation.

Chelsea take a step towards Romeo Lavia

There is the Moses Caicedo file, but that is not making much progress, despite the Ecuadorian’s forcing to bend Brighton. Faced with the complexity of this transfer, Chelsea attacked Roméo Lavia. This track goes back a few weeks already since we revealed to you that the Blues were in competition with Liverpool to snatch the 19-year-old Belgian from Southampton. The Reds even held the rope at one point until the Saints refused the Mersey club’s €50m offer.

This leaves some scope for the London rival, who according to The Athletic made an offer of €55m (£48m) on Wednesday. Southampton, which dropped to the Championship at the end of last season, is still waiting for €60 million, but this latest offensive should be enough to accentuate the channel of discussion between the two clubs. It is likely that the Blues will have to inflate their sum a little in order to convince their counterparts but according to Sky Sports, the case is on the right track. Time is also running out because the Premier League resumes this weekend with an enticing… Chelsea-Liverpool.
