Bayern Munich is also thinking of Mike Maignan!

Bayern Munich will officially start their season this weekend with the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig without having solved their biggest current problem: the goalkeeper position. Manuel Neuer is still in the recovery phase after his big leg injury, but the latest reports indicate that the iconic Bavarian goalkeeper is still very far from a return.

What to do then? Recruit a lining while waiting for Neuer’s return or bet on taking a number 1? The question is not easy to answer. The Swiss Yann Sommer did not, in any case, want to wait to find out what sauce he was going to be eaten since he went to Inter. To replace him, several names have been cited: Geronimo Rulli (Ajax), Yassine Bounou (Sevilla FC) or Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea).

Bayern do not forbid anything

The doorman of the Blues also seemed to be in pole position. One thing is certain: Londoners opened the door wide for him. But Sports Picture reveals two important pieces of information to us this morning. The first is that Bayern is considering enlisting a goalkeeper in the form of a loan with an option to buy. A formula that would allow you to have a reinforcement at a lower cost, while allowing time to see how Neuer evolves. And if the news were to be bad for him, the rookie could thus be definitively recruited next year.

The second is that Munich does not refrain from targeting more highly rated names than the three mentioned above. Indeed, Bayern has in its sights the Portuguese phenomenon of FC Porto, Diogo Costa (23 years old) and especially the Frenchman of AC Milan, Mike Maignan (28 years old)! Under contract with the Rossoneri until 2026, the former Lille resident has become an untouchable part of the Lombard club and one of the most popular goalkeepers in Europe. Maignan especially has a profile that appeals to Bayern, namely that of a very skilful goalkeeper with his feet, especially for raises. It remains to be seen whether Maignan may be interested in joining a very big club in Europe, but with the shadow of Neuer constantly hovering over his head.
