The Blues could be sanctioned for financial irregularities dating back to the Roman Abramovich era.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea is in the sights of the authorities for sums paid to offshore accounts. Facts that go back to the time when the London club belonged to Roman Abramovich.
It is the new owner of the club, the American Todd Boehly, who would have himself alerted the authorities to these irregularities, by detecting some anomalies when he peeled the accounts of previous seasons.
Potentially, Chelsea is exposed to a sanction which could range from a fine to the withdrawal of points in the Premier League. The Blues, coming off a disastrous season, really wouldn’t need that.
