Many were the Chelsea supporters waiting to know the shirt numbers assigned to the Blues. But this time, that’s it, the London club finally communicated the official list of players and their new lucky number on Tuesday. On the menu, numbers 7, 8, 10, 11 and even 26 were up for grabs, left free thanks to mass departures including those of N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovacic and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Freshly arrived at Chelsea and already injured, Christopher Nkunku will wear number 18, as at RB Leipzig. Levi Colwill will also find his beloved No. 26, John Terry’s emblematic number with the Blues. Nicolas Jackson will have the number 15, as with Villarreal at the time. Enzo Fernandez will wear the number 8 and no longer the 5, left free by Jorginho last winter. Mykhailo Mudryk, he is rewarded for his beautiful summer tour by taking the symbolic number 10. Wingers Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke will wear numbers 7 and 11 respectively, where Marc Cucurella (#3), Andrey Santos (#20), Armando Broja (#19), Ian Maatsen (#29) and Robert Sanchez (n°31) opted for a brand new tunic. Finally, the French are also impacted by these numerous number changes: Malo Gusto (n°27), Benoît Badiashile (n°5), Axel Disasi (n°2) and Lesley Ugochuwku (n°16).
