Many have wondered if the sacking of Julian Nagelsmann was actually a good decision on the part of Bayern Munich. Eliminated from the Champions League, the German Cup and threatened to the end by Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, the Bavarian club did not really suffer a spectacular shock with this dismissal. But Nagelsmann’s successor, Thomas Tuchel, had the merit of at least winning the championship despite a rotten end to the season due to a deleterious climate.
Between the Mané-Sané affair, an amorphous team and a management fired overnight, Tuchel had to face some serious headwinds. This Monday, Kicker also tells us that the former PSG coach was far from happy behind the scenes when he arrived at Bayern. Indeed, if he showed a broad smile in front of the cameras, Tuchel would have been very surprised by the general state of the team. He would have judged the players out of shape and pointed out a glaring lack of discipline. The daily even goes so far as to say that Tuchel would have wondered if he had done well to join the club at this time of the season.
Tuchel brings order to Bayern
Faced with this observation, Tuchel therefore wanted to regain control. And how ! The coach cleaned up the Bavarian locker room. No more free passes and untouchable players. The technician would also have attacked certain leaders of the team with a clear idea: to put everyone on the same level. Thomas Müller, Léon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich would have been reframed and today, their place in the starting lineup is no longer assured. Tuchel has also indicated that individual interviews will be carried out before the first official match of the season (the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig on August 12) so that each player knows his coach’s plans for him.
It is therefore not impossible that several Bavarian stars will be looking for a new club in the coming days. Note, however, that some executives such as Manuel Neuer or Serge Gnabry have been put forward. Finally, Tuchel would also have put order vis-à-vis its leaders. The coach no longer wants decision makers taken without his knowledge or for which he has not weighed. A rule that he intends to apply in particular for the end of the Munich transfer window. Let it be said, Thomas Tuchel imposes his paw on Bayern!
