Brazilian star Neymar Junior has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he wants to leave the club.
The French giants have been open to selling the Brazilian for the past two summers, and it has been rumored for some time that he is interested in a return to Barcelona. The Team claims today that Neymar, who has five years left on his contract, has let PSG know he wants to leave the club.
However, the problem is knowing what its destination will be. Saudi Arabia and Chelsea have been mentioned as potential destinations, but this information is not very convincing. While Ousmane Dembele could join PSG, there is talk of Neymar leaving the other way.
La Portera de Nunez says a deal would be done, more than likely a loan. The FC Barcelona board believe this would be a good thing from a marketing perspective, but Xavi Hernandez is adamant that Neymar should not be brought back.
Asked about this at the start of the summer, the Barcelona coach dismissed the idea out of hand. According MDNeymar has been offered to Barcelona on several occasions, but Xavi believes Neymar could disrupt the great dressing room atmosphere he has worked so hard to build, as well as disrupt the well-functioning hierarchy.
As the player is now 31, Xavi’s concerns are understandable and for FC Barcelona it is likely to be a choice between acquiring an additional star that they would lose with the departure of Dembele and the arrival of an unstable element. Likewise, Neymar’s injury history suggests they can’t guarantee he’ll be on the pitch when they need him most.
