Verratti, the twist

The future of Marco Verratti seemed to be written in dotted lines on the side of Paris Saint-Germain, but in the space of a few days, the situation changed.

In the middle of the week, the Italian press had been clear. For her, Paris Saint-Germain was now ready to part with one of its most loyal servants. Arrived in 2012, at the beginning of the QSI era, Marco Verratti was thus announced on the departure. At least PSG had set its selling price at sixty million euros, according to the transalpine media. But now a few days later, the story is very much different and Paris would be more inclined to keep its midfield.

And if the trend has thus been reversed, it is in particular because Luis Enrique is convinced that the “little owl” can still bring a lot to PSG. According to information published on Sunday in The Team, the new Parisian coach would therefore weigh all his weight to keep Marco Verratti for at least one more season. The media specifies, however, that offers have indeed been sent to Paris to try to poach the Italian, with in particular a (rejected) proposal of thirty million euros from the Saudis of Al-Hilal.

Quiet but attentive

However, nothing is decided in this file because the sports daily adds that Marco Verratti observes the situation without reacting for the moment, but with a certain interest for the fabulous offers coming from the Gulf. The Al-Ahly club could notably return to the charge in the coming days. But Marco Verratti also knows that if he leaves Europe for Saudi Arabia, it could have consequences for his future in the national team. Not necessarily a good choice one year from Euro 2024. For now, it’s the status quo. But for how much longer?
