AS Monaco’s interest in Deivid Washington, Santos’ child prodigy, has hit a stumbling block.

The Blues have submitted an official offer for the 18-year-old striker, as Globo and Fabrizio Romano reported on August 4, and personal terms have reportedly been agreed with the Stamford Bridge side.

Chelsea are also confident they can strike a deal with Washington, with the west London club intending to sell him to Ligue 1 partners Strasbourg.

But Monaco is ready to step up to try to divert the player.

Monaco wants Washington

According Foot MercatoMonaco’s new sporting director Thiago Scuro traveled to Brazil to meet with Washington and his family in hopes of persuading him to reject Chelsea and join the Principality.

AS Monaco are said to be on the way to overtaking Chelsea to secure the services of Washington, but they have not yet reached the price of 20 million euros demanded by Santos.

Adi Hutter, the Monaco coach, is said to be very interested in signing Washington, having been impressed with his breakthrough in top-flight football.

Washington has already scored two goals in nine Brazilian Serie A appearances, having made his first-team debut for Santos in April 2023.

Monaco are also interested in Juventus midfielder and ex-Chelsea loanee Denis Zakaria, as well as Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo.
