Kylian Mbappé looks certain to miss the start of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season with Paris Saint-Germain.

The PSG squad are due to return to training tomorrow, ahead of the season opener against Lorient on August 12, and the club are nowhere near a solution with their star player.

Mbappé trained alone in Paris after being left out of the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.

However, with the France captain having rejected a contract extension offer at PSG and a transfer to Saudi Arabia, the situation is not resolved.

Real Madrid remain confident they can complete a transfer for the 24-year-old, but short-term issues need to be addressed quickly.

Luis Enrique finds himself on the sidelines of this saga, the former coach of FC Barcelona having had a difficult first month at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappé sidelined

According to Marca, the instruction to sideline Mbappé was given by the club’s owners. Enrique still hopes to work with the Bondynois, but his first plans are made without him.

So, according to RMC, the 2018 world champion will remain well away from the group for the big recovery of PSG this Monday, at the Poissy training center. As a reminder, the Parisian striker was already deprived of the Asian tour due to his refusal to extend his lease.
