Algerian striker Riyad Mahrez is challenging a decision taken by his management at Al-Ahli regarding a player in the squad.
Riyad Mahrez joined Al-Ahli this summer from Manchester City. Within this Saudi team, he wants to start a new chapter in his career less stressful and less demanding than the previous one. However, after a few days in Al-Jeddah, he already finds himself at odds with his leadership.
Mahrez provokes his direction
The source of litigation? The decision of the Al-Ahli board to separate from one of the players in the squad, in the person of Ryad Boudebouz. The former Sochaux player may have been the great architect of this team’s return to the Saudi first division, but he is not part of the staff’s plans. The door of the exit was indicated to him and Mahrez did not like this decision at all.
Beyond the fact that Mahrez and Boudebouz are of the same nationality, there is a real relationship of friendship between the two players. The captain of the Fennecs might not have come to this club if his compatriot had not encouraged him to join it.

Mahrez did not go to arm wrestling with his new officials. That said, he did not hesitate to send them a message. On social networks, he posted a photo of him with Boudebouz where he clearly states his intention to play alongside him during the coming season. “I can’t wait for the season to start and Inchallah we will have a great season together my brother”he wrote in English.
If it’s not a tackle against the hierarchy, it looks like it. We can imagine that the decision-makers of Al-Ahli will review their position and accede to the request of their new star player. Because it would be silly to alienate the latter even before the start of the exercise.
