World Cup: already a contender for 2034

As applications multiply for the organization of the 2030 Men’s World Cup, a country is already showing interest in hosting the 2034 edition.

The race to organize the 2034 World Cup seems launched. A first country has already positioned itself to host the competition. This is Australia. The country is interested in hosting the men’s World Cup in 2034, the country’s football governing body said on Friday.

Football Australia wants to benefit from the experience of co-hosting the 2023 Women’s World Cup with New Zealand, the first with 32 teams, to host other major tournaments. The instance “study” both the possibility of hosting the expanded Club World Cup and the men’s World Cup.

A local and global issue

After talking to journalists about the possibility of organizing both the expanded Club World Cup and a World Cup, James Johnson, the general manager of “Football Australia”, clarified his thoughts:

Our vision is to be both local and global. And the way we can perform at our very best in Australia is when we bring global football content, the biggest events in the world, to our local communities, assured the general director of the governing body of football in the country.We therefore consider that the success of the Women’s World Cup is a springboard for applications for other competitions”, among which, according to him “The Club World Cup in 2029” And “The Men’s World Cup in 2034 which we will also study. »

As a reminder, Australia has already obtained in July 2021 the organization of the 2032 Summer Olympics, which will take place in Brisbane.
