The North London club is betting on a young Dutch central defender from Wolfsburg. And Spurs paid the price.
This is called making a nice shot. Bought for 3.5 million euros by Wolfsburg from FC Volendam two years ago, Micky van de Ven should be sold to Tottenham for some 50 million euros including bonuses, Fabrizio Romano said on Friday.
The young Dutch central defender, 33 Bundesliga appearances (one goal) last season, must commit to the next five years with the Premier League club coached by Ange Postecoglou.
Van de Ven, 22, would be Spurs’ fourth new head this summer after James Maddison (Leicester), Guglielmo Vicario (Empoli) and Manor Salomon (Shakhtar Donetsk).
Pedro Porro (Sporting Portugal) and Dejan Kulusevski (Juventus), loaned last season to London, have been transferred permanently.
