Stade Rennais could strike a huge blow on the transfer market by bringing in a renowned player in Serie A.
Rennes is ready for the resumption of the French championship, if we judge its recent card in a friendly against Nottingham Forest (5-0). But, despite this great victory, the club is still looking to strengthen itself in view of the coming season. And among the targeted positions there is that of the defensive midfielder.
Reindeer ready to hit a big shot
According to information from L’Equipe, the Bretons have the idea of signing Nemanja Matic, the seasoned Roma midfielder. Aged 35, the latter would present in the eyes of Bruno Genésio the necessary mix between experience and talent and that is why he wishes to attract him to Roazhon Park. The first steps have already been taken in this direction.
Recruiting the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager will not be a cakewalk, however. Matic is one of the elements on which José Mourinho, the coach of the Wolf, relies the most. The Giallorossi therefore do not particularly want to release him. The Rouge et Noir will have to be very persuasive to achieve their goals.
If they don’t succeed, other folders could be (re)activated. Former Monegasque Tiémoué Bakayoko is one of the coveted players. Unlike Matic, the latter has the advantage of being currently free. In addition, Morten Hjumland, a member of Lecce (Serie A) is also on the shelves of the SRFC.
