Footballer Jesús Alberto López Ortiz, who played in the third division at Deportivo Río Cañas, was devoured by a crocodile.
Jesús Lopez Ortiz, of Deportivo Rio Cañas, died on Saturday July 29 after being attacked by a crocodile. The player had gone early in the morning to the Cañas de Santa Cruz river to swim. He was then attacked by the animal and did not resist its bites. The authorities were forced to shoot the latter to recover the body.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death: drowning or pressure caused by the reptile. The funeral of the man nicknamed “Chucho” took place on August 2. Deportivo Rio Cañas paid tribute to their player. “Today we said goodbye to you, Chucho. We were a thousand to accompany you, representing all your friends, your family and the whole country that was with you.could we read in a press release.
