For Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni, Lionel Messi will be present during the next edition of the Copa America.
By opting for Inter Miami at the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain last June, Lionel Messi thus put an end to his twenty-year history within the Old Continent. A choice of exotic destination which would suggest to some that the sevenfold Ballon d’Or would be approaching an international retirement.
“Until He Wants It”
An opinion not necessarily shared by Lionel Scaloni, the coach of Argentina, who does not envisage the absence of the former Barcelona with the Albiceleste for the next Copa America organized by the United States. The Argentinian technician, winner of the World Cup in Qatar, also claims that the “Pulga” will play as long as he wishes.
“I think Messi will play in the next Copa America. I won’t be the one to say no to him… Playing in the United States doesn’t make him less competitive, he carries the competitive gene with him… Messi will play good football until he wants to”thus confided Scaloni for Radio Estadio Noche.
