Ousmane Dembele is close to leaving FC Barcelona after an agreement was reached between FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain for the sale of the 26-year-old winger.
PSG will pay 50 million euros to secure the services of Dembele, who has less than 12 months left on his contract. Personal terms have also been agreed and the France international will sign a five-year contract with his new club.
However, there is a deadlock in the transaction that prevents it from being finalized. Dembele and his agent are said to be entitled to half of the €50m transfer fee, as per the terms of his contract, but FC Barcelona oppose the issue, as reported Sport.
Barcelona claim that Dembele would receive this amount based on milestones and goals he failed to achieve. Therefore, they believe the Frenchman isn’t entitled to €25m but rather much less.
It remains to be seen how this issue will be resolved, but all parties hope it will be resolved soon. However, in Barcelona’s case, the directors will want to keep as much of the initial transfer fee as possible, especially given their financial difficulties.
