Sad news for all football fans. We will never see Gianluigi Buffon again on the football pitch. The experienced Italian goalkeeper decided to hang up the gloves for good at the age of 45.
Buffon, a reference to his post
After a final experience within the Italian club of Parma (Serie B), Buffon therefore chose to say stop. He always said he would quit the day his body stopped and that’s what happened.
Buffon will forever remain as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation, and even in history. He has succeeded everywhere he has gone, with the possible exception of PSG (2018-2019), and he has built an impressive track record. He conquered a dozen Scudetti with Juventus of Turin and was also the great craftsman of the title of world champion of the Squadra Azzurra in 2006.
Buffon, who made his professional debut in 1995, also has the distinction of having been the most expensive goalkeeper on the circuit for a very long time. To snatch him from Parma, Juventus had paid 53 million euros for his services.
